St. Mary's in Huish Episcopi...

We are part of benefice of Aller, High Ham with Low Ham, Huish Episcopi cum Langport. We are closely associated with our sister benefice of Long Sutton with Long Load, Drayton, Muchelney and Pitney.

St. Mary's is an active church with services every Sunday. Our basic schedule is:
8.00 am every Sunday morning, except the first Sunday at High Ham. We use  the Book of Common Prayer for said Holy Communion
First and Third Sundays at 9.15 am we have a traditional Sung Eucharist service with sermon. It lasts about 65 minutes and coffee and tea are served afterwards in the church.
Second Sundays we visit one of our sister churches in the benefice or they come to us. The schedule is always available on the notice board in the church porch and in this website. It starts at 10.30 am and is a service Holy Communion.
On the fourth Sunday we we have an informal worship service, sometimes with a family baptism. The service starts at 11.00 am. These services are not that radical and like all services, every one in the parish, the locality or visitors are most welcome. Followed by a cuppa! Also around 12.30 pm you are welcome to visit the rectory for lunch but please inform Jess or Chris Pitman. Details on the home page of any variations to the plan..
On Thursdays we have a said Holy Communion at 10.00 am.

Being part of a larger group of churches we have the benefit of different approaches to services.

We celebrate Patronal Festivals, Plough Sunday, Harvest Festival, Mothering Sunday and Christmas (with Carol Services in each of our Churches). We commemorate the war dead on Remembrance Sunday and All Souls, when relatives and friends are given the opportunity to light a candle for their departed loved ones at the Service of Light.

All Saints Langport is under the control of the Churches Conservation Trust. It was, through most of its history, the chapel of St. Mary's church, and the proximity of the two churches has always meant that services have been shared between the two buildings. Today it is used for some major festivals in the summer (the church has no heating!).

Our motto is:

'Together with Jesus out there’, so we try to walk with the community through all the highs and lows of life.
